Call me crazy, but Monday is one of my favorite days of the week. I like the feeling of a fresh start and new opportunities. With COVID-19 cases spiking throughout the US, I’ve been feeling… More
I’ve struggled with acne for over 15 years. In 2016, it got pretty bad again, so I started recording mini vlogs (see my most recent Instagram post for the “before”) to attempt to identify trends behind the flare ups.
Like many women, I’ve tried a bunch of creams, diets and topical gels over the years. Now, in my 30s, I’m happy to say that I finally have it under control. Today I wanted to share the lifestyle changes and products that helped me get my clear skin back.
First, I wash my face with cool water after every workout.
I use moisturizer and sunscreen every day. My favorite moisturizer is the Olay Regenerist line (red bottle for day and the blue retinol formula for night). For sunscreen, I love the Dr. Jart Cicapair color-correction balm. It’s SPF 30 and hides discoloration and redness.
Next, I developed a VERY consistent nighttime routine. I exfoliate nightly with my Olay ProX brush and Avene Cleanance wash. I can’t say enough about this face wash guys – it’s incredible for oily and breakout-prone skin. If I feel a breakout coming, I use a bit of Clean & Clear astringent on the spot and it’s usually gone by morning.
Last, but not least, I nourish my skin from the inside with hormone-balancing foods like leafy greens and berries. I steer clear of soy, processed foods and alcohol.
Overall, I think the biggest factor in skincare is consistency. Do you agree? Let me know your skin tips in the comments! If you enjoyed this post, follow along on Instagram @pearlsandbarbells.
