January Calendar

Hi everyone! I’m back from my brief blogging/social media hiatus and I’m ready to get back to creating for 2020. I have so many new ideas and projects in the works and I can’t wait to share them with you. For more details on all the newness, check out next Friday’s blog post, where I’ll be breaking most of them down. Stay tuned!

Anyways, I’m starting off 2020 by planning a few “must do” events and activities for each month. I did this in 2019, too, but I didn’t share it on the blog. I’m sharing this year because I think it’s a fun way to kick off the new year.

This little calendar was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Carly from Carly the Prepster. I love the idea of sharing a small snip out of my planner. I created this calendar with the Over app – truly one of my favorite apps and a must-have for bloggers. Although it took me a while to design, I saved the calendar as a template so it will be much easier to edit going forward.

January and February can be dreary months. The magic of the holidays is over, the weather is usually cold and/or wet (I’m in Pittsburgh), and spring feels so far away. I love planning exciting things to look forward to (and I think we’re all looking to fill those new 2020 planners).

We don’t have a super busy month in January. Since Alan and I both work full time, I try to keep the weekdays free for last-minute errands and family time. January is great because we have 2 paid holidays this month – New Year’s Day (the 1st) and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (the 20th).

This upcoming weekend will be one of the busier ones of the month. I’m planning a play date for Daphne on Saturday and a post-holiday deep clean on Sunday. We still have most of the Christmas presents in the spare room and I’d like to get those put away ASAP.

A few other highlights:

Juice Bar Trip

There’s a great juice bar in Wexford, but I never have time to stop there. I’ve only been there once (years ago) and I’m sure a lot has changed. I’d like to swing by this month and see what’s new.

National Bagel Day

January 15th is National Bagel Day. Late last year, Einstein Bros. Bagels decided to move National Bagel Day from February 9th to January 15th. (Apparently, February 9th is National Pizza Day, and Einstein Bros. was tired of sharing their holiday with pizza).

If you love free stuff, you’re in luck! Stop by your local Einstein Bros. Bagels on Wednesday, January 15th for a free bagel and schmear. Good thing I have one close to home.

Ski Trip

I love skiing, but I haven’t gone in quite some time. Alan & I planned a day trip to ski last January, but we couldn’t go due to a bad ice storm that impacted our area. I hope we can get to Hidden Valley, Seven Springs, or Holiday Valley over the long weekend. My personal preference would be Holiday Valley, since we’ve never been there to ski.

February Blog Plans

I’m blocking off some time at the end of January to organize and prep blog posts for February. I’ll admit, it can be hard to create content as a busy working mom. It is possible, though, if you use your time wisely. Prep and planning days are essential.
