I’ve decided to keep a gratitude journal for the next week or so. I may continue it throughout this entire social distancing, depending on how it goes!
During this challenging time period, I think it’s more important than ever to reflect on the many things we still have to be thankful for. It’s easy to get caught up in the scary news headlines and I’m hoping that a daily positive reflection will help me to cope with all this uncertainty and stress.
Here are 5 things I’m thankful for today.
1. A sunny day.
It was absolutely gorgeous here in Pittsburgh today: 50 degrees, slight breeze, and plenty of sunshine. After work was over, I went out on my deck and just laid there, enjoying the sun on my face.
2. Iced coffee.
I saved yesterday’s leftover coffee and refrigerated it overnight in a mason jar. This afternoon, I added a few tablespoons of organic milk, a bit of sugar, and plenty of ice cubes. It was super refreshing! I’ll definitely make it again.
3. A Pacifica Super Green Detox face mask.
This was my first time trying this mask and I loved it! I’ll admit, it really burned when I first put it on (I actually had to Google it to make sure that was normal). The burning subsided after a few minutes, though. Now my skin feels clear and really clean.
4. Shrimp and chicken on the grill.
I’m so thankful to be married to a great cook! Alan threw some shrimp and chicken on the grill tonight and served it up with a sweet & spicy chili sauce. It was so good! We tried to eat outside but the wind was starting to pick up and it got pretty chilly.
5. A rest day from the gym.
I usually take Monday’s off from the gym and I am continuing that schedule. I workout pretty heavily on the weekends (Sunday is my big leg day) and I feel like I need Monday to rest and recover. I’m proud of yesterday’s progress (I hit a new deadlift PR of 250lbs) so I felt totally content with just eating and resting today.
